Our 8 day Komodo diving liveaboard is a seven-night, dive-first cruise through Komodo National Park: fly from Bali to Labuan Bajo in about 90 minutes, board, then work through Batu Bolong, Manta Point, Castle Rock, Crystal Rock and — in season — Cannibal Rock in the south, with Padar, Pink Beach and ranger-guided dragon walks woven between dives.

Eight days is the itinerary serious divers ask us for by name. It is long enough to dive the park’s three distinct regions — central reefs, northern pinnacles and the cooler, soft-coral south — and still surface for the landscapes that make Komodo a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Bali to Labuan Bajo, boarding and check dive

Fly from Bali to Labuan Bajo, where our team meets you for the short harbour transfer. After the welcome brief and lunch underway, we run a relaxed check dive at Siaba Besar — gentle conditions, seagrass and resident turtles, ideal for trimming weights and shaking off travel. At dusk we anchor off Kalong Island as thousands of flying foxes stream out over the water.

Day 2 — Central Komodo: Batu Bolong and the Padar ridge

The day opens on Batu Bolong, the park’s famous current-swept pinnacle, timed carefully around slack water. A second central-reef dive follows before an afternoon climb to the Padar Island viewpoint for the three-bay panorama in golden light. A night dive near a sheltered anchorage rounds out the evening for those still hungry.

Day 3 — Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Pink Beach

Morning belongs to Manta Point, a cleaning station where reef mantas are frequently seen, conditions permitting. We take the surface interval on the crescent sandbar of Taka Makassar, then finish with a dive or snorkel off Pink Beach, whose rose-tinted sand comes from crushed red coral.

Day 4 — Northern pinnacles: Castle Rock and Crystal Rock

We reposition north overnight to Komodo’s adrenaline coast. Castle Rock and Crystal Rock are the park’s celebrated schooling-fish pinnacles — trevally, fusiliers and surgeonfish massing in the current, with reef sharks patrolling the edges. Both dives are timed to the tide. The day closes with a sunset hike up the savannah ridge of Gili Lawa Darat.

Day 5 — North again, then the run south

Great pinnacles reward a second visit at a different tide window, so we re-dive Castle Rock or Crystal Rock in the morning, add a third dive on a nearby reef your cruise director selects on the day, then begin the passage toward south Komodo while you log dives on the sundeck.

Day 6 — South Komodo: Horseshoe Bay and Cannibal Rock

The south is another world: cooler, nutrient-rich water and some of the densest soft-coral cover in Indonesia. In Horseshoe Bay we dive Cannibal Rock, a macro-and-colour classic, plus a second southern site. This leg runs in the April–September dry season; outside that window the route weights extra days north and central instead.

Day 7 — Dragons, final dives and farewell

A last morning dive — timed to protect the recommended pre-flight surface interval before tomorrow’s flight — then we trade fins for trail shoes on a ranger-guided walk among the Komodo dragons at Loh Liang. The afternoon is for snorkelling, kayaking or simply the sundeck, followed by a farewell dinner at anchor.

Day 8 — Labuan Bajo and the flight to Bali

An unhurried breakfast as we return to harbour, disembarkation, and the transfer to Labuan Bajo airport for your roughly 90-minute flight back to Bali — logbook full, camera fuller.

Diving Standards and Safety

Komodo’s best sites move. Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock are current-swept, and our guides brief conservatively, dive the tide windows and keep groups small. Open Water divers are welcome and will dive superbly at gentler sites like Siaba Besar; an Advanced certification with recent experience is strongly recommended for the pinnacles. Equipment, nitrox and course availability vary by vessel and are confirmed per boat.
