Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Board in Labuan Bajo, Kelor and the Flying Foxes

The flight from Bali takes about 90 minutes, and several airlines fly daily. We collect you at the airport and bring you to the harbour; practical details live in the departure logistics guide. After lunch on board, Kelor Island offers a short summit climb and the trip’s first snorkel. At dusk the boat anchors off Kalong Island, where flying foxes leave the mangroves in long ribbons against the sunset — frequently seen, conditions permitting.

Day 2 — Padar at Sunrise, Pink Beach, and Nothing Else

You climb Padar in the dark and watch the park’s most famous view arrive with the light: three bays, three colours of sand, one ridge. The rest of the morning belongs to Pink Beach — swim, snorkel the house reef, or do nothing on rose-tinted sand.

Here the six-day pace shows itself. Where shorter cruises push on to the dragons the same afternoon, this route stops. Lunch is long, the sundeck is calling, and the crew repositions gently for tomorrow. This single unhurried afternoon is many guests’ favourite memory of the trip.

Day 3 — Komodo Dragons and Manta Point

Rangers lead the morning walk on Komodo Island, reading tracks and keeping a safe frame around the largest lizards on earth. Back aboard, the boat crosses to Manta Point, a shallow cleaning station where reef mantas circle year-round, conditions permitting. Snorkellers drift above the station; certified divers settle beside it. Both come back to the dining deck talking too fast.

Day 4 — Taka Makassar, Siaba Besar and the Sail North

Morning starts on the crescent sandbar of Taka Makassar, a stripe of white sand in open turquoise water. Then Siaba Besar, the park’s gentlest bay, where green turtles graze seagrass metres below your mask — ideal for children and nervous snorkellers. The afternoon is a proper passage north under sail, the reason people choose a phinisi in the first place.

Day 5 — Gili Lawa Darat and a Day Shaped Around You

The ridge walk on Gili Lawa Darat rivals Padar and rarely shares its crowds. Afterwards, the day flexes: divers can request the northern pinnacles of Castle Rock and Crystal Rock, snorkellers take the sheltered slopes nearby, and anyone can vote for a return to a day-two favourite. Sunset is spent at anchor in the north, usually alone.

Day 6 — Rinca Island and the Return

On the sail back, the boat calls at Rinca Island, the second dragon stronghold, where sightings on the rangers’ loop are frequent, conditions permitting, and the savannah scenery is its own reward. You disembark in Labuan Bajo around midday and connect to the afternoon flight — or extend in Flores and cruise home later on a Komodo to Bali crossing.
