Day-by-Day: 4D3N Komodo Liveaboard

Day 1 — Labuan Bajo, Kelor Island and the Kalong Flying Foxes

Morning flight from Bali, a 90-minute hop east, and our team moves you from Labuan Bajo’s airport to the harbour. Lunch is served as the boat clears the bay and the town shrinks behind you.

The afternoon belongs to Kelor Island — a ten-minute climb for a first postcard view, then snorkelling over the fringing reef below. At dusk the boat anchors off Kalong Island, where flying foxes pour from the mangroves in their thousands against the sunset. It is the park’s welcome ceremony, and it never feels rehearsed.

Day 2 — Padar Ridge, Pink Beach and the Komodo Dragons

Pre-dawn tender to Padar Island and the 30–40 minute walk to its ridge, where three differently coloured bays unfold beneath the sunrise — the single most photographed view in the park, and emptier the earlier you climb. Breakfast is on board afterwards.

Late morning is for Pink Beach, its rose-tinted sand created by fragments of red coral, with easy snorkelling straight off the shore. In the afternoon, rangers lead you through Loh Liang on Komodo Island, where dragons are frequently seen along the trails, conditions permitting. There is time for a second swim before dinner; the boat spends the night in a sheltered central anchorage.

Day 3 — Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Gili Lawa Darat

The morning opens at Manta Point, a shallow cleaning station where reef mantas circle to be groomed. Guides read the current and put snorkellers in gently up-drift; mantas are seen frequently year-round, with notably strong December–February sightings, though the ocean makes no promises.

Next comes Taka Makassar, a crescent sandbar rising barely above the turquoise — swim, wade, or simply stand in the middle of the sea. The afternoon sail runs north to Gili Lawa Darat, where a short, steep golden-hour hike earns a ridge view over the channel that three-day guests never reach. Dinner and a quiet anchorage follow.

Day 4 — Siaba Besar or Batu Bolong, then Home via Labuan Bajo

The last morning offers a choice the crew tailors to conditions and to you. Siaba Besar is calm, sandy and generous with green turtles — perfect for families and relaxed snorkellers. Confident swimmers may prefer a guided drift along the edge of Batu Bolong, a current-swept pinnacle whose upper metres hold some of the densest fish life in the park.
